A Legacy Behind the Name: Patterson’s Camera Shop
In 1939, Martin Patterson Sr. opened Patterson’s Camera Shop in the heart of downtown Texarkana at 214 W. Third Street — the very building now being reborn as Patterson Place.
Over the next 85 years, Patterson’s grew into a multi-generational, family-owned photography studio and imaging business, serving the Texarkana community through moments both monumental and everyday. The shop is now operated by the third generation of Pattersons and continues to uphold its reputation for excellence at its current location on Cascades Blvd.
2024, Patterson’s Photo Studio and Imaging was honored with the Texas Treasure Business Award by the Texas Historical Commission, recognizing its eight decades of service and cultural contribution to the region. Fewer than 500 businesses across the state have earned this distinction.
